Commencing with DGH a month after they opened their doors, Howard, as Project Manager constantly leads from the front. Whether it be overseeing a full-time maintenance contract for more than 10 years which was lost time injury free for the duration of his leadership, liaising with clients, or mentoring the next generation. Howard has a natural ability to work with anyone he meets and displays patience in passing on his wealth of knowledge and work ethic to the young people coming up through the ranks. In every interaction Howard works with integrity, leadership, patience, and co-operation truly making him an inspiration to all that work with him and a very deserving winner of this award. Awarded to an organisation that can demonstrate a sustained safety performance and/or culture in a workplace incorporating both physical safety and mental wellbeing. DGH Engineering undertook a fabrication and installation of four gantries at Moranbah North Mine Site in the Bowen Basin. During the 18,000-hours of work, not one first aid kit was opened. DGH Engineering has also established mental health and safety leadership practices which have been prioritised and maintained throughout COVID. Together these delivered prolonged excellent performance and culture. Stand-out initiatives include suicide prevention – training to identify, skills to talk down and a close partnership with EAP using targeted feedback. Congratulations DGH Engineering.
